What does it entail?
2 mile open water canoe, an 8 mile bike ride, a 7 mile trek up Haystacks followed by another 13 mile bike ride cycling through some of the most beautiful parts of the Lake District.
How much does it cost to enter?
There is no entry fee but we recommend making a donation of at least £99 + Gift Aid to help cover fees
Does that mean that some of the money raised will go to pay for the event?
No, the Blandford family have made a donation to the charity which covers the majority of the entry fee. That together with donations from participants means that ALL the money donated by sponsors including the Gift Aid will go to the Christian Blandford Fund. More details about this here.
Do I need to take my own bike and or canoe!?
No! Skyline will provide the canoe and or bike
Who are Skyline?
They are the company that are organising the event, providing marshals, bikes, canoes, and helping with the accommodation. All participants need to register with them here.
What will I need to take?
Water proof clothing and good quality water resistant walking boots are recommended
What about accommodation?
We are staying at the Lodore Falls Hotel and and Skyline have negotiated a preferential rate of £120 per person per night for dinner bed and breakfast. They have held a mixture of twins and doubles and should have contacted you about it. If you would like to stay somewhere else that is absolutely fine, you can search for hotels here
What about travel?
You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the Lake District. Claudia and I are getting the train there 14:30 from Euston to Penrith on the 18th May, returning on the 20th May at 12.07. It probably makes sense to book the tickets soon if you wish to do the same. We used The Train Line. If there are enough people interested in going together by coach or minibus from one location we are happy to help arrange that.

What’s happening after the event?
We plan to have dinner and a few drinks at the Lodore Falls Hotel, anybody who is not staying there is very welcome to join us.
